  11. FastRates Program Is A Fake!

  13.     Those modem users out there may have come across a program which is
  14.   claimed to double the transfer rate of your modem, and indeed upon running
  15.   it it does appear to work.  But a closer study showed that in fact
  16.   FastRates just slows down your system clock to half its speed and since
  17.   comms packages use the clock to calculate transfer performance it will not
  18.   be reporting back the true performance.  All you have to do to disprove
  19.   this program is use a stopwatch to time the transfer time and compare that
  20.   with how long your software thinks the transfer took.  If you are a Sysop
  21.   or Co-Sysop you should remove this program and post a message in your
  22.   startup for anyone logging on to read.  Otherwise next time you log on to
  23.   a BBS leave a message regarding this program.  -S-

  29. VIRUS WARNING!

  31.     The author of VMK (VirusMemKill) has recently posted a message out into
  32.   the Net that there is an illecit version of VMK being spread around.  This
  33.   is VMK V3 which does not exist and the real author of VMK has had a look
  34.   and it seems to be a "virus installer", not a remover.  So beware.  If you
  35.   see this program on any BBSs please advise the Sysop to remove it from the
  36.   system.

  41. Brilliance V2.0

  43.     This brilliant paint program has been upgraded and "debugged" from V1.0
  44.   to V2.0.  Now Brilliance is slightly faster and new features have been
  45.   added such as the enhanced Rub Thru item (which makes use of
  46.   transparencies) and the ability to visually mark the start and end
  47.   positions of an animated brush to move rather than previously just doing
  48.   it numerically (DPaint also does it numerically).  Upgrades are $US49 to
  49.   V1.0 registered users).

  80.     Evidently, Imagine V3.0 has a rather major bug in that it won't accept
  81.   postscript fonts.  Since this was one of the major features of V3.0 a lot
  82.   of people have been caught out by buying a lot of fonts disks.  I suggest
  83.   writing away and complaining.
